Mince pie recipe!

Hello my lovelies! I do hope you are ok and feeling festive! It’s official christmas eve, yaaaay! The carols, the excitement of hearing the reindeer bells, the food! Every year since I can remember we make mince pies, it’s like a lovely holiday tradition! The house gets filled with joy, christmas music and the most divine smell ever! This year I must admit I didn’t participate in the making of the annual mince pies, my lovely mama and one of her lovely friends Anna made them, and as I walked in the house just smelled sooo amazing!

Here are the ingredients / Tools.

  • 500g flour.
  • 100g icing sugar.
  • 250g cold butter.
  • The zest of an orange & of a lemon.
  • 2 beaten eggs + a splash of milk.
  • A big jar of mince meat.

  • Pastry cutters : (stars/circles).
  • Patty tins.
  • Pastry brush.

And here is how to make it :

Start off by preheating your oven at 180 degrees celsius (fan)

First of all you need to make the pastry. So to start you need to put the flour,  sugar and the butter in a bowl and rub it together until it’s like a crumbly pastry. Next add the eggs and milk and mix it in with a fork. This will bind your pastry. Now roll it out on a floured surface until it’s about 5 mm thick.

You’re going to want to cut your pastry now : Half into circles and half into stars. They have to have the same width. Now put the circles of pastry in the bottom of the patty tins. Fill the pastry with the mince mixed with the orange and lemon zest.

Top that with the star-shaped cut outs of pastry, finishing of by glazing it with a bit of milk. Now put them in the oven until golden brown, and there you have it! Beautiful and tasty mince pies to make christmas even more christmassy! Now enjoy!
